Why BCCI Reserved 2 VIP Seats

The Indian cricket team, led by Kapil Dev, had a historic win at the 1983 World Cup.
The BCCI wanted to felicitate the players but lacked funds for a proper ceremony.
Lata Mangeshkar, a huge cricket fan, stepped in and agreed to perform a charity concert.
The concert, held in Delhi, was a grand success. It raised a substantial amount (around 20 lakh rupees) for the cricketers. Each player received Rs 1 lakh as a reward.

The BCCI, deeply appreciative of Lata Mangeshkar’s generous act, decided to honor her in a special way. They permanently reserved two VIP seats for her at every international match played in India. This gesture continued until her passing.
